From the kitchen you will need
- Seedless Dates 900 g
- Baking Soda 20 g
- Butter 460 g
- Sugar 50 g
- Brown Sugar 100 g
- Nestlé® Sweetened Condensed Milk 397 g
- Eggs 8 numbers
- Vanilla 2 teaspoon
- Flour 640 g
- Walnuts 200 g
- Salt 2 teaspoon
- Baking Powder 2 tablespoons
- Water 1.5 liter

Preheat oven to 175° C. Grease and flour a 9-inch square pan

In a saucepan, combine water and chopped dates
-
Bring to a boil and cook for 5 minutes

Remove from heat and stir in baking soda. Set aside

In a large bowl, cream together butter and white sugar until light and fluffy

Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla

Beat in the flour, salt and date mixture

Pour batter into prepared pan

Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean

Remove cake from oven, and set oven to broil

For the topping

In a saucepan, melt 200g of butter

Stir in brown sugar, 1 tin Nestlé® Sweetened Condensed Milk and chopped nuts
-
Spread mixture over warm cake and place in the oven under broiler until lightly browned for about 3 minutes

Watch carefully as mixture could easily burn under the broiler

Cool before serving
