In a mixer bowl, combine the flour and salt. Cut the butter into small pieces and add to the mixture along with the vegetable shortening. Mix with a paddle while adding the egg, water and vanilla essence to obtain crumbly dough. Keep in the fridge for 20 minutes to set.
Preheat the oven at 200 °C. Roll out the crust dough and put it in a 20 cm pie dish. Chill the dough while making the filling.
To prepare the filling, combine the flour, sugar and NESTLÉ Sweetened Condensed Milk in a large bowl. Add the eggs, golden syrup, butter and salt and whisk, and then mix them with 1/3 of the pecan nuts.
Remove the crust from the fridge, pour the filling in it and arrange the remaining pecan nuts on top. Bake for 20 minutes at 160 °C and for another 10 minutes at 180 °C until set. Transfer to a wire rack and cool for an hour before serving.
