From the kitchen you will need

  • For the semolina mixture:
  • Nestlé® Sweetened Condensed Milk 397g 1 tin
  • Butter (melted) 1 cup
  • Baking Powder 1 teaspoon
  • Semolina 2 cups
  • Pistachio 1 ½ cups
  • Water 1 cup
  • For the syrup:
  • Sugar 2 cups
  • Water 1 ½ cups
  • Lemon Juice 1 teaspoon
  • Rose Water 1 tablespoon
  • Pistachio (ground) 2 tablespoons

  • Combine melted butter, Nestlé Sweetened Condensed Milk and baking powder and stir well.
  • Add semolina, ground pistachio and water, stirring until well combined.

  • Pour and level mixture into a 28 cm x 24 cm baking tin.
  • Bake in a 190°C preheated oven for 35 minutes or until golden.

  • For the syrup, add sugar and water to a saucepan. Bring to boil and simmer for 6-8 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice, rosewater and ground pistachio.

  • Remove from oven and pour cooled syrup all over cake.
  • Place in fridge to cool completely, cut into diamond-shaped slices and serve.
