From the kitchen you will need

  • Butter(melted) 180 g
  • Brown Sugar 1.5 cups
  • Egg 1 piece
  • Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon
  • All-purpose flour 1.75 cups
  • Baking Powder 1 teaspoon
  • Rolled oats 2 cups
  • For Filling:
  • Nestlé® Sweetened Condensed Milk 397 g
  • Butter(softened) 0.25 cup
  • Walnuts 0.75 cups
  • Dates(chopped) 1.5 cups
  • Dark chocolate chips 1 teaspoon
  • Ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon
  • Vanilla extract 395 g

  • Combine butter, sugar, the beaten egg and vanilla in a large bowl
  • Add flour, baking powder and oats to the mixture
  • Press ½ the mixture into a greased 25cmx30cm baking dish and refrigerate to chill.

  • In a separate bowl knead the dates with butter, slowly adding 1 tin of Nestlé® Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • Mix in the chopped nuts, chocolate, cinnamon and vanilla.

  • Spread the date filling evenly over the base and then crumble the remainder on top to cover the date mixture
  • Place a few dabs of butter over the top
  • Bake in a 180°C preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown
  • Cool to room temperature
  • Serving tip: When firm, serve the crumble with a delicious scoop of vanilla ice cream or fresh cream
  • Enjoy.
