From the kitchen you will need

  • For the base:
  • Toast Bread 8 slices
  • For the kashta:
  • Nestlé® Sweetened Condensed Milk 397g 1 tin
  • Milk 4 cups
  • Corn flour 1 cup
  • Rose water 1 tablespoon
  • Orange Blossom water 1 tablespoon
  • For the syrup:
  • Sugar 1 cup
  • Water ⅓ cup
  • Lemon Juice ½ teaspoon
  • For the garnish:
  • Pistachio (ground) ⅔ cup

  • Lay the toasted bread in a rectangular glass oven tray (optional: you can toast it in the oven until golden or use it soft).
  • Prepare the sugar syrup by adding the sugar, water and lemon juice in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir the mixture with a wooden spoon to dissolve the sugar.
  • Once boiling reduce heat and simmer for 7 - 8 minutes. Do not cover the saucepan.

  • Pour the sugar syrup over the toast. Melt the corn flour with 100ml cold milk bringing to boil the remaining milk with the Nestlé® Sweetened Condensed Milk.
  • Once the milk boils, add the corn flour mixture while whisking continuously.
  • Add rose water and blossom water.

  • Stir well until the mixture thickens.
  • Pour the custard over the toast and set aside to cool for 1 hour.
  • Sprinkle with the ground pistachios and refrigerate for 2 hours.
