Chocolate Lava Mousse

From Nestlé® you will need

Nestlé® Sweetened Condensed Milk 370g

From the kitchen you will need

  • (370g) Nestlé® Sweetened Condensed Milk 1 tin
  • dark chocolate (about 170g), chopped 1 cup
  • (60ml) heavy cream cup
  • large eggs 2
  • vanilla extract 1 teaspoon
  • A pinch of salt

Step by Step

  • In a heatproof bowl, combine the chopped dark chocolate and heavy cream. Melt the chocolate using a microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth. Alternatively, you can melt it over a double boiler.

  • Once the chocolate is melted and smooth, stir in the Nestlé® Sweetened Condensed Milk until well combined.

  • Allow the chocolate mixture to cool slightly. Then, add the eggs, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and well combined.

  • Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for about 30 minutes to allow it to thicken slightly.

  • While the mixture is chilling, prepare your serving dishes (ramekins or small cups) by lightly greasing them with butter or non-stick spray.

  • Once the mixture has thickened, pour it into the prepared serving dishes, filling them about 3/4 full.

  • Preheat your oven to (175°C). Place the filled dishes on a baking tray and bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set, but the center is still soft.

  • Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. The centers will remain gooey. Serve warm, optionally topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
