From the kitchen you will need

  • FOR THE CRUST:
  • Flour 250 g
  • Cold Butter 180 g
  • Sugar 10 g
  • Salt Just a pinch
  • Ice Water, made with melted with ice cubes 150 ml
  • *You can also go for a ready-made Tart crust if you are short on time!
  • FOR THE FILLING:
  • Nestlé® Sweetened Condensed Milk 397g 1 tin
  • Eggs 2
  • Cinnamon 1 teaspoon
  • Ground Cardamom (optional) ½ teaspoon
  • Vanilla Extract 1 teaspoon
  • Salt ¼ teaspoon
  • Majdoul Dates 250 g
  • Sliced Almonds 100 g

Date Tart Recipe
  • In a bowl, sift the flour, then add the sugar and salt, and mix with a whisk.
  • Add the cold cubed butter and work it into the flour with your hands. Do not worry if the mixture is crumbly.
  • Add the ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing with your hand, until the dough begins to come together.

  • Knead the dough for 1 minute and shape it into a disk. Then, cover with plastic film and refrigerate for 1 hour. If you are planning ahead, you can keep it in the fridge for up to 3 days.

  • Pre-bake the shell for 25 to 30 minutes in a preheated over at 180⁰C.
  • Once ready, take the shell out of the oven and cool for a minimum of 30 minutes.

  • Pit and cut the dates into quarters, and lay them down flat on the dough, skin side up. Try to cover as much of the surface as possible.
  • Scatter the sliced almonds all around the dates.
