Saffron & Milk Cake Recipe

From Nestlé® you will need

Nestle--Sweetened--397g

Nestlé® Sweetened Condensed Milk 397g

From the kitchen you will need

  • For batter
  • All-purpose flour 1.5 cups
  • Butter, at room temperature 0.5 cup
  • Eggs 5 pieces
  • Sugar 1 cup
  • Saffron or other flavor (orange, pistachio…) 1 teaspoon
  • Hot water 1 tablespoon
  • Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon
  • Baking Powder 1.5 teaspoon
  • For soaking:
  • Nestlé® Sweetened Condensed Milk 397g 397 g
  • Milk 1 cup
  • Whipping cream 0.5 cup
  • For topping:
  • Whipping cream 2 cups
  • Icing sugar 0.5 cup

Step by Step

  • In a large bowl, beat the butter well
  • Add sugar and mix.

  • Add the eggs one by one.

  • Stir the saffron in hot water and add vanilla extract.

  • Sift the flour with baking powder and add to the mixture gradually using a spoon (don’t stop beating)

  • Brush a rectangular cake tin with some butter and pour in the mixture
  • Bake the cake in preheated 190°C oven for 35 minutes.

  • Meanwhile in a large pitcher, mix the milk with the Nestlé® Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • Keep aside.

  • Beat the whipping cream and icing sugar until obtaining a stiff cream
  • Keep aside.

  • Bring the cake from the oven, and using a fork make multiples holes at the top
  • Pour the milk mixture gradually all over the poked cake
  • Add a thick layer of cream on top and garnish with saffron threads
